The driver and passenger of a Harley Davidson motorcycle that crashed on Highway 31 south of La Pine on Sunday afternoon were both transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, deputies reported.

According to the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center, firefighters continue to make progress in containment of several fires throughout the region.
Although firefighters continue to deal with extreme terrain and flashy fuels, the Fossil Creek Fire on Highway 19 southeast of Spray (Incidents 496 & 513) grew only slightly Wednesday and is currently 2,985 acres and 25% contained. Police officers, sheriff’s deputies, fire & rescue personnel, and members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) all responded to an alarm at a Prineville Bi-Mart store early Wednesday morning, ultimately leading to the arrest of two teenagers.

A 35-year old Prineville driver escaped with only minor injuries when he lost control, hit a dirt bank, and rolled his vehicle in an attempt to avoid a deer in his path on Highway 26 Wednesday afternoon, deputies reported.

Redmond Police investigators now believe that a 12-year-old Redmond boy is responsible for shooting his 13-year-old brother in the head last month, and charges have been filed against him.
The Deschutes County Juvenile District Attorney has charged Jimmy Cade with third-degree assault. The child will be required to appear in juvenile court at a later date, Lt. Wayne Shortreed said.

A thunderstorm that passed through Central Oregon late Friday evening produced lightning that started a series of fires on the Ochoco National Forest, the Prineville District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and private lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF). A 17-year-old Redmond girl drowned in the Deschutes River after her raft went over Cline Falls about four miles west of Redmond on Saturday, deputies reported.
