All three counties in Central Oregon saw their unemployment rates drop from March to April. Only Crook County saw its rate drop more than expected. Deschutes County had the lowest rate at 4.6 percent, while Jefferson County had the highest at 6.8 percent. A motorcyclist who was blinded by the sun as he crested a hill on SW Shumway Road in Powell Butte, Oregon early this morning was injured after he lost control and crashed, deputies reported. Prineville city officials today announced that effective immediately, residents should stop irrigating with municipal water and curb any unnecessary water consumption, limiting usage only to necessary domestic purposes. Prineville Police officers are investigating a series of check thefts from numerous local businesses that have suffered losses -- often in the thousands of dollars. Prineville Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the vandals responsible for breaking 16 car windows with rocks in the northeast part of town early Saturday morning.
