Through a grant provided by the Northwest Health Foundation, Central Oregon Council on Aging (COCOA) has installed Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) in three of their Central Oregon meal sites. SISTERS, Ore. – A total of 35 elk escaped from a private elk ranch in Sisters, Oregon Wednesday morning through fences that Oregon State Police (OSP) have determined were deliberately cut. All 35 elk have been recovered and returned to the ranch, unharmed. A La Pine-area man died Sunday afternoon when he collided with a semi-truck after attempting to pass another commercial vehicle in a “no passing” zone on Highway 26 about 25 miles east of Government Camp on the Warm Springs Reservation, Oregon State Police (OSP) reported. In an announcement adding worse news to bad for Jefferson County’s economic future, Genmar Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Seaswirl Boats, said the Culver manufacturing facility is closing -– potentially affecting 170 employees.
