Three of Seven Business Fail OLCC Compliance Check on February 14BEND, Oregon – A compliance check of Central Oregon businesses by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission conducted February 14 turned up dismal results – 43 percent of those checked sold alcohol to minors. Alcohol was not a factor and no citations were issued in a single-vehicle rollover crash on O’Neil Highway in Crook County on Wednesday afternoon that sent the driver to the hospital with unknown injuries, deputies reported. All three counties in Central Oregon saw their unemployment rates drop from February to March. Both Deschutes (the Bend Metropolitan Statistical Area) and Jefferson counties’ rates declined less than expected. Deschutes County had the lowest rate at 5.3 percent, while Jefferson County had the highest at 7.9 percent. REDMOND, Ore. – Officials evacuated and sealed off the Redmond High School gym on Friday after asbestos-tainted material was knocked off the ceiling by a tennis ball. The gym will remain closed until further notice.
