LONDON -- British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari are working together in counter-terrorism efforts. ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan says he is hopeful his country's border with Turkey will reopen by Oct. 7, in time for a World Cup soccer qualifying match. MOGADISHU, Somalia -- The captain of the U.S.-flagged cargo ship jumped from a lifeboat in an escape attempt Friday but was recaptured by his pirate captors, a U.S. official said. HUDDERSFIELD, England -- An employee at a pie maker in northern England died in an explosion early Friday that injured six others, one of them seriously. The blast at Andrew Jones Pies in Huddersfield gutted the brick building, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reported. LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- The U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan said Friday they killed at least 27 suspected insurgents in recent conflicts.
