MANILA, Philippines -- Philippine and U.S. search-and-rescue operations were under way Wednesday to locate passengers of a downed presidential helicopter, officials said. Three bodies were recovered from in the wreckage of the aircraft that crashed near the town of Tinoc in Ifugao province, Philippine broadcaster GMA News reported. BAGHDAD -- Muntadhar al-Zaidi's sentence for throwing his shoes at former U.S. President George W. Bush has been reduced to a year, his lawyer said Tuesday in Iraq. MONTREAL -- A peaceful sit-in protest at the University of Quebec at Montreal led to the arrest of 45 students Tuesday, police said. JAKARTA -- A military aircraft crashed into a hangar Monday while attempting to land at an airport in West Java, killing 24 people, Indonesian air force officials said. MOMBASA, Kenya -- A British-owned cargo ship and a Taiwanese fishing boat have become the lastest vessels to be seized by Somali pirates, local reports indicated. The BBC, citing reports from Kenya, said the British-owned Malaspina Castle was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden and the Taiwanese boat was commandeered near the Seychelles.
