Victims of drunk driving incidents are needed to speak on an ongoing panel that helps intoxicated driving offenders realize the pain they’ve inflicted. The talks are coordinated by the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office and held the last Wednesday evening of each month. Attendees are required $25 to attend.

The Oregon Chapter of the Pajama Program, with the help of the Redmond Chamber’s Leadership Redmond, will be collecting pajamas and books during February to benefit Deschutes County children who have been removed from their homes.

(Deschutes County) The Oregon Forestland-Urban Interface Fire Protection Act of 1997 was first implemented in Deschutes County in the fall of 2004. A major component of the interface fire protection act is the individual certification cards each homeowner should return to the Department of Forestry within two years of receiving the certification package. Each certification card identifies the particular owner and home site that meets the standards of the act.

I told the paper the role of the National Urban League and other civil rights groups was evolving to cater to the younger generation, which possesses no memories of a struggle born well before they were.

In an effort to provide better customer service to citizens, Deschutes County’s Community Development now accepts Visa and MasterCard payments for services. Credit card transactions for services are now available in Bend, La Pine and Redmond.
Through the new process, customers to the Community Development Department (CDD) can use their Visa or MasterCard to pay for any land use application, building or septic permit, restaurant license and food handler cards.

A 20-year old Redmond man was arrested Tuesday morning in the theft of four all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and a trailer valued at almost $29,000. Deputies were alerted to the situation when a resident discovered the property, allegedly purchased with a bad check, listed for sale on the popular web site craigslist.org.

A 23-year old Sisters woman received minor injuries in a collision that occurred Tuesday morning on Highway 20 at Tumalo when a van pulled out in front of her vehicle. Her two-week old daughter and the other driver were unharmed. Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies reported.
