Planning and preparations for the 2006 Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Shop-With-a-Cop program are now underway. The events will be held Tuesday, December 12th at the Bend Wal-Mart, and Thursday, December 14 at the Redmond Wal-Mart. Outdoor debris burning within the City of Bend will open Wednesday morning, November 1st.    Gary Marshall, City of Bend Fire Marshal said that regulations prescribed by the City of Bend will allow outdoor burning of approved debris for 20 days within the month of November if weather conditions are favorable as determined by the fire department and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.    Marshall also noted that residents should be aware that fires can, and ... In a meeting held Tuesday evening, the Bend-La Pine School Board approved two new policies involving volunteers in schools and visitors to district facilities. Vice Chair Hovecamp presented both policies in the meeting held at 6 p.m. October 24. On October 23rd the Redmond School District Board of Directors announced they earlier passed a resolution opposing Ballot Measures (BM) 41 and 48. At that time, they directed Superintendent Fleming to educate the community about the fiscal impact these measures would have on school funding.
