A Redmond woman was critically injured in a near head-on crash Tuesday night when her car drifted over the centerline of Deschutes Market Road and was hit by a van, leaving her unconscious and trapped in her vehicle, said authorities. Central Oregon Community College recently received approval from the Oregon department of education to begin offering an associate of applied science degree in automotive management. With this degree, graduates could work as service advisers, assistant managers or eventually as managers for automotive, diesel, and recreational sports and marine dealerships or independent repair facilities. US Forest Service Helicopter Inspector Pilots and Central Oregon firefighters recently used three helicopters to remove tons of trash from canyon areas on the Deschutes River, five miles south of Cline Falls, and at Millican Cliffs, five miles SW of Prineville last week. Redmond smokejumpers prepared the site on the Deschutes River by clearing trees around collection points.
