Dr. Benjamin Hopkins has joined Bend Surgery Center as the new Medical Director. Dr. Hopkins is a board-certified anesthesiologist who has practiced in Bend for 18 years. Along with his new position at the Bend Surgery Center, he will continue his practice with the Bend Anesthesia Group.

Central Oregon Community College recently received approval from the Oregon department of education to begin offering an associate of applied science degree in automotive management. With this degree, graduates could work as service advisers, assistant managers or eventually as managers for automotive, diesel, and recreational sports and marine dealerships or independent repair facilities. The graduate could also split jobs as a technician and adviser.

US Forest Service Helicopter Inspector Pilots and Central Oregon firefighters recently used three helicopters to remove tons of trash from canyon areas on the Deschutes River, five miles south of Cline Falls, and at Millican Cliffs, five miles SW of Prineville last week.
