A hunter who became lost on his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly driving while intoxicated along Highway 26 about nine miles east of Government Camp, said authorities. The man was also cited for three other offenses including being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police are looking for a knife-wielding robber who wore a ski mask while holding up two employees at the Subway Restaurant in south Bend Monday night, said authorities.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, October 23, a man entered the store at 61419 South Highway 97 and approached two employees working behind the counter, said Lt. Ken Mannix with Bend Police. Correctional Deputies thwarted an attempted suicide by an inmate at the Deschutes County Adult Jail Friday morning, when during a routine security check they found a man had tied twisted sheets around his neck and bed bunk. The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. October 20.
Deputies immediately intervened by removing the sheet and providing medical attention, said Sergeant Darren Squier.

A 12-year-old bike-rider was struck by a car driven by a teenage girl in the parking lot of the High Desert Middle School in southeast Bend early Friday morning. The boy was riding his bike through a school crossing in the school parking lot at 61111 Southeast 27th Street about 7:30 a.m. October 20 when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by a 17-year old female Bend resident, said authorities.

Deschutes National Forest visitors might be affected by road closures Monday and Tuesday when contractors replace two culverts where the Black Crater Fire burned 9,400 acres west of Sisters in July.
Forest Service engineers will close Forest Road 1024 and access to the Millican Crater Trailhead on Monday and reopen it on Tuesday. No detour is available for this closure.

Alcohol appears to be the factor in the death of a 43-year old La Pine man involved in a single-vehicle crash on 6th Street near Pengra Road in La Pine on Friday evening, authorities said.
