Three local restaurants will pay fines totaling $6,435 or have their liquor licenses suspended for violations to the state liquor laws, said the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC). A $20,000 grant from the National Education Association is helping the Oregon Education Association revise state education policies and create initiatives to close student achievement gaps. The grant will help OEA identify professional development needs and support lobbying efforts to increase funding for programs to address those needs. Oregon's effort to protect communities from a radiation incident is featured in a new national report as an example of how states are using federal preparedness dollars to strengthen their defenses against public health threats.
