Single-family existing-home sales were stable in October while the condo sector was down, according to the National Association of Realtors. Lingering effects of the credit crunch were a drag on sales but the mortgage situation has improved significantly. This week the Employment Department released its projections of employment for 2016. The projections point to slow job growth in Oregon between 2006 and 2016 but many job openings due to the need to replace workers who leave their current occupations. The department’s forecasters expect economic growth to add more than 240,000 jobs, a gain of 14 percent over the decade. Cessna Aircraft Company announced this week it was the high bidder in bankruptcy court for the Bend, Oregon-based Columbia Aircraft Manufacturing company. The sale for $26.4 million is anticipated to be completed by December 4, at which time the Bend operation will take on the Cessna name. A Prineville man was charged with 20 crimes following an investigation into the killing of four deer for the sole purpose of removing their heads for their antlers.
