OCALA, Fla. -- Authorities in Ocala, Fla., say they won't press charges against a 10-year-old girl caught carrying a steak knife to her school cafeteria.The fifth-grader at Sunshine Elementary School in Ocala was placed under arrest Dec. 13 for bringing a weapon to school. WASHINGTON -- Statistics released Thursday show that 2007 has been the deadliest year since 1989 for law enforcement officers in the United States.The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund reported that 186 officers have been killed so far this year, a 28 percent increase over 2006.Officers killed by gunfire and traffic-related events rose. A 17-year-old Redmond driver was cited for careless driving when he allegedly sped up behind a vehicle in order to pass on the snow-covered highway, lost control and rear-ended the car, triggering a three-vehicle crash that injured the other two drivers on Tuesday night, deputies reported. A 24-year old Prineville driver escaped unharmed after he lost control of his car and crashed on Highway 126 in the Powell Butte area on Christmas Day, deputies reported.  A brief snowfall shortly before the 6:30 p.m. crash created slippery driving conditions near milepost 10.5, Crook County Sheriff’s Sgt.
