At least nine people were killed and 21 injured in a suicide bomb attack today a distance away from the United States military base in Bagram, Afghanistan where Vice President Dick Cheney was staying.   His overnight stay at the base was unplanned, but made necessary by inclement weather on his way to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul. The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $3.3 million grant to the Denver-based National Business Information Clearinghouse (NBIC) to assist minority entrepreneurs in overcoming barriers to starting and maintaining a small business. ROME, Ga. - Mohamed Shorbagi, 42, of the Rome, Georgia, area was sentenced today to serve seven years and eight months in federal prison, by U.S. District Judge Harold L. By unanimous vote with almost no discussion, the Deschutes Board of County Commissioners yesterday appointed Undersheriff Larry Blanton to serve the remainder of retiring Sheriff Les Stiles’ term, which runs through December 31, 2008.
