WASHINGTON - The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department budget will increase funding to programs while eliminating redundancy and waste, President Barack Obama said. WASHINGTON - The $26.5 billion U.S. Justice Department budget for 2010 would fund national security and crime-fighting efforts, budget figures show. The budget, part of the proposal President Barack Obama presented Thursday, provides $8 billion for the FBI, including $425 million in enhancements, and $88 million for the national security division. MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The number of hate groups active in the United States rose by 54 percent between 2000 and 2008, the Southern Poverty Law Center said Thursday.
