ISLAMABAD - An assembly of Pashtun tribal elders in Pakistan's semi-autonomous Waziristan reportedly has declared war against foreign militants linked to al-Qaida.The Pakistan Times reported that at the Jirga of Ahmedzai Wazir tribesmen, local religious scholars issued a decree saying execution of foreign militants and their supporters would be lawful acts. One of the four suspected arson cases in Bend during the last nine days was solved when a juvenile was cited by Bend Police for reckless burning in connection with a brush fire in a vacant lot in northeast Bend on March 26, officials reported. The Bend City Council announced today the unanimous appointment of Peter Gramlich to fill the vacancy left by John Hummel, who resigned last month Thirteen interested parties applied for the vacant position by the set deadline of March 21, and council members on Tuesday of last week narrowed the list to six candidates. Sea lions that gather near the mouth of the Rogue River will soon find that their lounging areas have been blocked off the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) announced Monday. Approximately 350 feet of barrier will be put up on local mooring docks to discourage sea lions from frequenting the boat basin and Rogue River estuary. Two Prineville teenagers were taken into custody Saturday following an investigation of criminal mischief near Wildcat Campground in the Ochoco National Forest, accused of shooting a number of signs and causing $800 in damage, Crook County Sheriff’s deputies reported.
