Legislation will mean recycling of millions of plastic water bottles previously thrown away
SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Senate yesterday passed Senate Bill 707, legislation that expands the type of containers that can be recycled under the Oregon Bottle Bill to include plastic water containers. The expansion will mean recycling of millions of water bottles at the 5-cent deposit rate that previously would have been thrown away, resulting in a cleaner environment for Oregon.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help in locating the person or persons responsible for the unlawful take and waste of turkeys near Baker City. A reward is offered for information related to this case.

An asphalt overlay project on Cline Falls Highway from Tumalo Road north to Highway 126 will limit traffic to one lane and may cause delays lasting 20 minutes, the Deschutes County Road Department announced.
Construction crews will begin work on Monday, April 30, with project completion expected on June 1, said George Kolb.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible during construction times of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SAN DIEGO - ResMed said Monday that it is recalling 300,000 air generators that people use to treat sleep apnea because there is a "remote potential for a short circuit in the power supply connector."
Although the problem has been reported in only seven of the company's S8 flow generators, chief executive Peter Farrell said Poway-based ResMed decided to voluntarily recall all the devices manufactured between July 2004 and May 15, 2006, and replace them ... WASHINGTON - The brother of Army Ranger Pat Tillman Tuesday said the U.S. military deliberately spread untrue stories about his brother's 2004 death in Afghanistan.
Tillman, a former player for the Arizona Cardinals, interrupted his NFL career to join the Army after Sept. 11, 2001. He was killed by "friendly fire" in a skirmish near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in April 2004, but Army officials spread a story that Tillman had died in a firefight with ... INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana man and the American Civil Liberties Union are suing over a free state license plate that says "In God We Trust."
Mark Studler told the Indianapolis Star he isn't opposed to the plates but he thinks they should cost $15 like other specialty plates. Studler paid $40 for his "environment" license plates, $15 of which goes to the state as an administrative fee and $25 toward land conservation.
