When you step into a room, you get one free moment. In that moment colleagues and clients are making assumptions of who and what you are all about. If your visual integrity does not reflect your capabilities, it may take many further meetings to undo that first impression. Call it impression management, style or good grooming, the business professional knows the power of a positive image. Savvy business style requires more than an expensive suit! ... [full story]

Save Our Canals Association is a group of concerned property owners; we number about 100 property owners that live along the Swalley and the Central Oregon Irrigation Districts canals. As property owners we have come together to protect our property from being defaced and devalued by the irrigation districts ridiculous concept of piping their canals that run through our backyards. We recently were ruled against in federal court by Judge Aiken. The ruling was, yes ... [full story]

Podcasting is a new form of fun stuff to do on the computer. The ipod was made for music downloads, but the reality is that it has created a launch of mini shows, that are uncut and cheap to produce. Every event you can imagine is a potential contender as a reality radio broadcast show from Rio to Cape Cod, and from Boston to Broadway. CB Radio,i.e. Ham Radio, was developed as radio for the ... It seems that the days of naming your son or daughter with your own name and adding a second, third or a fourth sign in roman numerals at the end are fading away. This seems to be especially the case with celebrities. The more unique, the better! As to whether celebrities are simply a little loopy, or whether they simply like the attention that a unique baby name will bring, we do not know. What ... [full story]

Brushing aside the concerns of mobile home park owners, the Bend City Council on Wednesday held a first reading and vote on an ordinance that would require any owner who closes a mobile home park to pay “reasonable” costs of moving mobile homes in the park up to 100 miles or purchase at real market value any mobile home that cannot be relocated. The proposed ordinance took many mobile home park owners by surprise – ... [full story]

Decorating with a variety small houseplants, adds aroma and decor of the residential home. Houseplants are very healthy to everyone, because plants take in carbon dioxide (which is exhaled), toxins, and pollutants, and in turn release clean oxygen. Unfortunately, some people are allergic to certain types of houseplants. An indoor houseplant adds brightness to a room, and always a cheerful sight, on any gray day or a dreary winter day. Using an unconventional pot to ... [full story]

Recently, my beautiful seven year old daughter informed me of the perfect man she had uncovered for me, the only complication, it's actor and activist Viggo Mortensen.  Now, I confess to my lack of enthusiasm over this revelation for I am not a lover of movies but I am a devotee and follower of the abominable atrocities in Iraq, which led me to his t-shirt "NO BLOOD FOR OIL." As I behold the ever rising gas ... [full story]

For the everyday individual, companies like Wal-Mart have been a source of great deals, where goods can be purchased at a relatively inexpensive sum. These companies preach never-ending low costs for the benefit of the consumer. Most of us have taken that as face value, resulting in hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue annually. Wal-Mart in particular has been one of the major beneficiaries of your hard earned dollar. They promote themselves as being ... [full story]

If I were Dan Brown, I would thank the Vatican for helping to increase the amount of his royalty checks. The Church should have kept its mouth shut about “The Da Vinci Code”. By demonizing this excellent novel, the Church caused millions more people to read the book. Now a movie based on the novel is due to come out. Millions of people will flock to theaters and watch Tom Hanks bring the story to ... [full story]
