LOS ANGELES - Former first lady Nancy Reagan said she published her late husband's diaries so readers could learn more about the former U.S. president. "The Reagan Diaries," edited by historian Douglas Brinkley, are being published three years after Ronald Reagan's death, CNN reported Friday. "I just thought that there was so much in this diary that people didn't know about Ronnie, and that they really should know about Ronnie," she told CNN's "Larry King ... [full story]

The future appears bright for those 2007 graduates entering the working world. MRINetwork, an international recruitment organization, shows the job market for college graduates as being in the best shape it has been in since the 1990s. After hitting a low point in 2003, the job market has advanced for graduates during the last four years. Long before he jumped into the travel bag business, Jim Markel packed parachutes during his four-year tour in the Marines. Rigging 'chutes wasn't going to be a career, but it had a powerful impact on his mind. "The rigger's motto," he says, "is 'I will be sure - always.' It's a matter of life and death." Markel has carried that mentality into a business with his dad, Jim Sr., called Red Oxx Manufacturing. They started ... [full story]

Early to bed and early to rise gets Jack and Jill to the two-car-per-green on-ramp every morning. Accelerate, merge, get in the flow and hope nobody screws up or everybody will be late for work. Most days it seems a miracle when traffic flows. And on the days it doesn't, there is reassurance in driving a big Volvo.   VOLVO S80 - The S80 is the largest Volvo sedan and re-engineered this year, with a new ... [full story]

ROSWELL, N.M. - An umbrella of secrecy is surrounding plans for a UFO theme park in the New Mexico town of Roswell. City Planner Zach Montgomery revealed six locations were being considered for the park but refused to pinpoint the locales, The Roswell Daily Record reported Friday. "That has to remain confidential," Montgomery said, adding the locations' values would quadruple overnight if revealed. The only information available was that the possible locations were either within ... [full story]

Q: We are enclosing a photo of one of two matching clear glass compotes that were given to us in the late 1950s from a relative. The overall measurements of each are 7 inches wide and 12 inches high. Both are in mint condition. We were told that by turning each one upside down and placing the lid on top of the base, you could use them to serve pastry.   GLASS COMPOTE - This glass ... [full story]

We must have sung the Rutgers alma mater 50 times when I went to my 50th reunion in New Brunswick, N.J. We blared out, "My father sent me to old Rutgers and resolved that I should be a man." The words of the song showed just how sexist our all-male college really was back in the 1950s. Nobody would have thought for a minute that Mom played any part at all in deciding where we ... WASHINGTON - The U.S. Senate may consider making English the "national" language, not the "common" language included in immigration reform legislation. The proposal from Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., would reduce the government services provided in languages other than English, the Washington Times reported Friday. "There is not an entitlement for language, other than the English language, to be given to people who want government services," Inhofe told the Times. Many Democrats oppose the measure, which ...
