FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - FBI officials said a man who was rescued after he plunged from a cruise ship that departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
FBI spokeswoman Judy Orihuela said Scott Durrin had been drinking with three friends for several hours Sunday on the Carnival Liberty when the group left the boat's casino area and tried t6o get into a lifeboat, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Monday.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina prosecutor who brought charges against three Duke University lacrosse players resigned Monday.
Mike Nifong, who has been disbarred, submitted a letter to a Superior Court judge resigning from the Durham district attorney's job, the Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer reported.
Nifong faces contempt charges for allegedly lying about DNA evidence in the case against the lacrosse players accused of rape, the newspaper reported.

BOISE, Idaho - An air ambulance worker in Idaho was nearly killed when a shattered window at 20,000 feet temporarily sucked part of his upper body out of a plane.
Critical-care nurse Chris Fogg said that during a routine flight, his entire head and right arm were sucked out of a two-engine plane's window after it suddenly broke, The Seattle Times said Monday.

WASHINGTON - Funds in the presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., are down to $2 million and 50 campaign workers have been laid off outside Washington.
McCain was in Iraq Monday as aides announced the campaign that employs about 150 people had raised $11.2 million in the past three months, which fell short of the $13 million in the previous quarter, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

A 20-year old Wilsonville man has been arrested for the alleged rape, sodomy, and sexual abuse of two teenage girls he befriended on MySpace.com, deputies reported yesterday.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies said that Kyle James Green is believed to have specifically targeted underage girls on the internet, in public libraries, and through introductions from acquaintances.

Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers on Friday announced the conviction of Carrie Ann Bowers on four counts of first-degree theft.
