Although the Air Force Research Laboratory million dollar grant given to Jeffrey Addicott, a professor at St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, to devise new ways to limit making information available to the public via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is not likely to destroy the act completely, if adopted it could further weaken the forty year-old act. In a five-two vote, the Bend City council voted Wednesday in favor of moving forward with the much debated, 1,500-acre Juniper Ridge mixed-use site with a key amendment. Recently, area business leaders had been stepping up asking the city to slow down, stating concerns that if the city moves too fast they could potentially lose profits and waste tax payer’s money. “We were asking them to rethink the MOU (memorandum of understanding),” said Mike Schmidt, ... Bend may be booming, but like many parts of the country the housing market seems to have hit a soft spot.  It is something Aaron Callahan and his family have discovered in recent weeks. They put their new 3,400 square-foot home at 99 NE Telma Ln. on the market using Craigslist.org over two weeks ago and they have yet to have any interest.  “It is a dream house at a good price,” Callahan said.  For ...
