Horizon Broadcasting Group has named Dave Christi as Creative Services Director for its cluster of radio stations in Central Oregon.
Christi was a national finalist for the 2006 Radio Mercury Award for best commercial produced by a radio station.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon and Hertz Car Sales will bring together friends of animals for a benefit golf tournament at the Bend Golf and Country Club on Monday, October 9.
The field for the first annual golf tournament will be limited to 36 foursomes. Registration is still open for a few more golfers. The tournament will be a scramble with a Calloway handicap system.

Suspect allegedly attacks mother
A man who allegedly tried to attack his mother with a knife at a home north of Redmond Tuesday afternoon was arrested by Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies on several charges, authorities reported.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recently finalized a decision regarding cleanup activities at the former Bend Trap Club site based on approval of the investigation, evaluation of remedial action alternatives conducted to date, and completion of the public notification period. Central Oregon Community College’s Culinary Institute is again offering five-course luncheons from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Grandview Student Center on the Bend campus starting September 26.
The meals are prepared by Cascade Culinary Institute students under the supervision of Julian Darwin, director of the Institute. The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office has announced they will hold four town hall meetings in October, designed to provide an opportunity for residents to learn about their sheriff's office and the November 7 elections.
