Oregon State Police detectives, with the assistance of Polk County Sheriff's Office and Marion County Medical Examiner, are completing the death investigation of a man found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon at Holman Wayside State Park along Highway 22. A Milwaukie, Oregon-area man was killed and his wife injured Monday night after their motorcycle collided with a Black Angus cow on Highway 7 about 35 miles southwest of Baker City. The cow was also killed in the crash, Oregon State Police (OSP) reported.

A 21-year old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he allegedly fired several shots outside a residence in north Bend and tried to break into the home after he was asked to leave and was locked outside, police said.

In August, the City of Bend Community Development Department began enforcing the placement of unauthorized signs within public street right of ways. The City has noticed that compliance with the sign code has increased over the past few weeks. Approximately 116 signs have been removed in September; the removals are due to garage sale signs and other signs not associated with properties for sale. On Monday, a dozen quilters from the Crook County Quilt Guild will visit the St. Charles Regional Cancer Treatment Center to donate hours of their time neatly wrapped in hand-made quilts for cancer patients.
This is the fifth year the quilters have created what they call “chemo quilts” for cancer patients in Central Oregon. The idea began, said Marilyn Malloy, president of the guild, when her daughter was undergoing cancer treatment several years ago.
