For the second time in less than six months, drug agents raided the Funny Farm, an offbeat local attraction and second-hand store northeast of Bend called by RoadsideAmerica.com “The Far Out Park & Playground of Reuse and Recycling", and on last Wednesday arrested its proprietor, his son, and his brother, for crimes related to the alleged sale of marijuana and methamphetamine.

The proprietor, 64-year old Eugene Stanley Carsey, Jr.; his son, David Patrick Carsey, 44; and Eugene Carsey’s brother, Steven Patrick Carsey, 59; were taken into custody on November 21 following execution of a search warrant at 64990 Deschutes Market Road, Bend Police Lt. John Gautney reported. The Deschutes Market Road address is the location of the Funny Farm – also known as “The Fun Farm”, and doubles as the residence of Eugene Carsey, said the lieutenant.

According to a news release, Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team members and detectives with Bend Police and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office raided the Funny Farm with the assistance of a county K-9 drug dog, and then later in the day searched the residence of Steven and David at 669 and 669 ½ NE Lafayette Avenue.

Detectives seized 427 grams (about 14 ounces) of packaged marijuana, a small amount of meth, digital scales and packaging materials from the Funny Farm, Gautney stated.

During execution of two more search warrants at the NE Lafayette Ave. address, detectives discovered a small amount of meth and marijuana, plus packaging materials.  In addition, Gautney reported, a substance believed used as an additive (or “cut”) to meth when it is being repackaged for sale was also found.

In June of 2007, Eugene Carsey was arrested on several drug-related crimes when detectives seized about one pound of marijuana, 1.5 ounces of meth, and items associated with a meth lab (although no lab was found) during a raid at the Funny Farm. That case, wherein Eugene Carsey is charged with possession, manufacture, and distribution of both marijuana and methamphetamine; and possession of psilocybin mushrooms; is still pending in the courts, Gautney reported.

In Wednesday’s arrest, Eugene Carsey was once again charged with possession, manufacture, and distribution of both marijuana and meth.  In addition, he was charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana.

David Carsey faces the same charges as his father, and Steven Carsey was charged only with conspiracy to deliver marijuana, the lieutenant said.

• These three miscreants deserve to go to jail and lose everything. Give them cardboard boxes and dump them off on Portland's Burnside after they serve their 15years. Anyone who publicly posts the slightest sympathy for them, or implies that the mean ol' cops have it in for the hapless hippies, DON'T know these guys at all. Unfortunately, I do. Gene is my dad, David my brother. They have wrought far more harm than good upon their families and community. Steve, my uncle, is a sociopathic slug. Bend will be a better place when this kind of garbage is where it belongs...in the trash.

• Sounds like Police have a woody for this family. I think Code should be more concerned about the mexican drug trafficking problem along hwy 97 then a couple tweakers/stoners living on a funny farm.
