The Central Oregon Hotshots announced the addition of athletic big man Shawn Hampton to the team’s “most talented roster yet”, scheduled to play in the upcoming 2008 season.
Hampton, 6’10”, played at Rutgers University and Bowie State State before kicking off his pro career last year with the Baltimore Pearls (ABA), where he averaged 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Hampton should provide the perfect complement to the Hotshots' outstanding stable of perimeter players. The Hotshots will challenge last season’s league-best 146.8 points per game average with a line-up that features four 2007 IBL All-Stars: Arthur Lewis, Jeff Dunn, Chucky Frierson and Jamal Walker.
Hotshots owner Mikal Duilio had this to say about the recent addition: “Shawn gives us the physical inside presence that we lacked last season. His skill set is really the perfect complement to the players we already have in place. I truly can’t wait to see these guys on the court.”
The Hotshots’ home opener is scheduled for Friday, April 25, against China’s Shanxi Kylins. The Kylins are a team from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) that has joined the IBL for the 2008 season. The CBA is the same league that produced NBA star Yao Ming.
