Basketball:

June 2

          In the semifinals of the 4-on-4 Adult League, United Pipe beat HSW Builders and Harris Heroes won over the High Flyers. The Harris Heroes were victorious in the championship title over United Pipe.

Baseball:

June 6

          Bend High senior Drew Rundle was selected on the first day of MLB Draft, going in the 14th round to the Chicago Cubs.

Jun 9

          Bend Elks win their season opener against the Central Oregon Bucks, 9-2.

Golf:

June 4

          Brandon Kearney placed at the Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship held at OGA Golf Course, tied for 2nd at 3 under par.

June 7

          The winner of the Bend Ladies Invitational Tournament was Kailin Downs.

Judo:

June 3

          Nathan Pietsch won first place in the Oregon State Judo Championship in both lightweight and heavyweight black belt competitions.

Mountain Biking:

June 3

          Patricia Buerkle took first in the women’s 19 mile Pickett’s Charge! Race with a time of 1 hr, 29 min, 47 sec. Mens 38 mile honors went to Ben Thompson with 2:30:57. Placing 2nd was Heather Clark and Brig Brandt.

Running/Races:

June 1

          Central Oregon “Storm the Stairs” winner in the men’s division was Sean Meissner at 12 min., 58 seconds. Kimber Mattox took first in women’s at 14:14.

June 3

          Mark Sitz came in first (mens) at 19:26 and Rebecca Sakraida (womens) at 22:52 for the 5k Prineville Hotshots Memorial Run. 10k winners were Nate Robinson at 37:37 and Denise Kelp with 39:39.

June 4

          Brandon Parker, Leslie Veenstra, Rich Taylor, Jeffrey Stuermer, and Amanda Stuermer all completed the 26.2 mile San Diego Rock ‘N Roll Marathon.

          Pam Bradbury was overall winner of the 5k 7th annual Heaven Can Wait run to benefit the Sara Fisher Breast Health Project. Her time was 20 min., 12 sec. Neil Higham was first in the mens division at 20:13.
