Results of controlled big game hunt tag lottery now available
by ODFW

SALEM — State wildlife officials have completed their random computer drawing for controlled hunt big game tags.

Results area available by calling 1-800-708-1782 and on ODFW's web site, http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hunting/big_game/controlled_hunts/ .

ODFW limits the number of hunters for particular hunts to improve game management and enhance the hunting experience. The annual application deadline for these "controlled" hunt tags is May 15 and results are available by June 20.

A total of 134,746 controlled hunt tags were drawn as follows: 67,263 buck deer tags; 51,777 elk tags; 12,589 antlerless deer tags; 3,029 pronghorn antelope tags; 82 bighorn sheep tags; six Rocky Mountain goat tags.

Hunters who applied but were not successful can still participate in general season hunts and also will accumulate preference points for use in next year's controlled hunt lottery.

Hunters also can purchase nearly 933 leftover tags – hunting tags from units where available tags outnumbered applicants -- when they go on sale July 1 at 10 a.m. , at more than 500 license retailers statewide.
