A 55-year old White Salmon, Washington man described by deputies as an experienced rock climber who was outfitted with appropriate gear died Sunday morning when he list his footing and fell 100-feet to his death from a steep trail at Smith Rock State Park.
 
Jim Anglin was pronounced dead at the scene, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputy Lt. Shane Nelson said.
 
Anglin and two friends were descending into the gorge at the southeast end of the park when the accident occurred, the lieutenant reported. 

Deputies and Redmond Fire paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed Anglin’s death.  Search and rescue members with the sheriff’s office recovered the climber’s body from the bottom of the gorge.
