BAGHDAD -- At least 10 people were injured Wednesday by a suicide bomber who targeted the headquarters of a Kurdish political party in Kirkuk.

Kirkuk Police Chief Sarhad Qader told Kuwait's KUNA new agency the bomber detonated his device near the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. The Independent Voices of Iraq news agency quoted a police source as saying several of the injured were in critical condition and that the blast had set fire to six cars.

In Baghdad, an Iraqi army official said the bodies of 17 civilians had been found buried under an abandoned house 35 miles northeast of the city, CNN reported.

The official said the stage of decomposition suggested they had been buried four to five months ago and they were likely victims of kidnappings from fake police checkpoints.

He said the house was known to have been used by insurgents and that bombs had been found around the burial site, the report said.
