A 20-year-old California bike-rider was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the bicycle apparently hit a car head-on in Milwaukie, Oregon, police reported.

Milwaukie Police officers were called to SE McLoughlin and SE 22nd St. about 5:15 p.m., November 13 to the report of a vehicle vs. bicycle crash.

Preliminary investigation determined that the bicyclist, Gabriel Lee King, 20, of Arcadia, California, was bicycling with another person and was traveling north on SE McLoughlin in the shoulder of the southbound lane.

According to a news release, King crossed SE 22nd Street and hit a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville head-on.  The car, driven by 61-year old Pamela Rumage of Milwaukie, was traveling south on SE McLoughlin preparing to turn right onto SE 22nd.

King was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University and is reportedly in stable condition and under observation.

Rumage suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

King was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the news release stated.  No citations were issued, and police said alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
