NORFOLK, England - Investigators are trying to determine why a flight navigator was ejected from an RAF Tornado over Norfolk, England, while the plane was flying upside down.

The British jet was on a test flight Wednesday with a civilian crew from defense contractor BAE Systems, The Times of London reports.

The pilot reported the accident and that he had not seen a parachute open. The unidentified crewman's body was found 45 minutes after the accident in a field in near South Creake.

"It appears there may have been something wrong with the ejector mechanism in the rear seat. The plane had just been serviced. When the jet went upside down, it was enough to set it off," a RAF source is quoted by the newspaper as saying.
