Teenage Bike-rider Injured in Middle School Parking Lot Crash

A 12-year-old bike-rider was struck by a car driven by a teenage girl in the parking lot of the High Desert Middle School in southeast Bend early Friday morning.  The boy was riding his bike through a school crossing in the school parking lot at 61111 Southeast 27th Street about 7:30 a.m. October 20 when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by a 17-year old female Bend resident, said authorities.

According to Deputy Marcus Mendoza and Sgt. Scott Beard with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injures and the driver was cited for reckless driving.
