DES MOINES, Iowa -- Scheduling conflicts forced the Dec. 4 Republican Party of Iowa Presidential Debate to be canceled, state party officials said.
The RPI said in a statement it was disappointed "Iowans will not have the same opportunity" for a televised debate as Republicans elsewhere.
"A debate in Iowa leading up to Jan. 3, 2008, would have displayed Iowa's unique caucus system, and possibly garnered more viewers and attention than any other debate given its proximity to the caucuses," the organization said.
