BAGHDAD -- Sectarian shooting and a roadside bomb killed five people in Baghdad Tuesday, Interior Ministry officials said.
Among the victims was Moussa Jaafar, the director of the government's Geological Survey, CNN reported. He and an unidentified passenger were targeted on their way to work in a Shiite neighborhood in an ambush by armed men. Jaafar's chauffeur was also injured in the attack, police said.
Two roadside bombings in different Shiite neighborhoods killed one civilian and wounded nine others while gunmen in a western Sunni neighborhood killed two civilians, officials said.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Iraqi army said in the past 24 hours, its forces had killed or detained more than 75 terror suspects in various operations throughout the country, Kuwait's KUNA news agency reported.
