Bend Subway Hit by Armed Robber

Police are looking for a knife-wielding robber who wore a ski mask while holding up two employees at the Subway Restaurant in south Bend Monday night, said authorities.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, October 23, a man entered the store at 61419 South Highway 97 and approached two employees working behind the counter, said Lt. Ken Mannix with Bend Police.  The robber allegedly brandished a large knife, ordered a male employee to lie on the floor, then fled out the front door after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.  Both employees present complied with the suspect’s commands and were not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male with a deep voice, 30 /- years old, 5’8” – 6’0” tall, weighing 160-190 pounds.  He was reportedly wearing white athletic-type shoes, blue baggy jeans, a navy blue hooded sweatshirt (possibly with a zipper and yellow/white/red design on the front), black ski mask, and white gloves.

Bend police officers and Deschutes County deputies were unable to locate the suspect following an extensive search of the area.  If apprehended, the suspect will likely face charges of first-degree robbery, menacing, and unlawful use of a weapon.
