BAGHDAD -- A series of car bombings and other acts of violence Wednesday in Iraq have left 14 people dead and another 22 injured.

CNN reported that a car bombing in Ramadi killed five people and injured 16 others, while separate incidents in other regions of the country left three coalition troops and an interpreter dead.

Iraq's Alsumaria news service reported that a pair of car bombings in Baghdad killed four civilians and injured at least six others on Wednesday.

Elsewhere in Baghdad, the bodies of five men were found by Iraqi police. The men appeared to have been the victims of torture before their bodies were placed in a local trash yard, CNN said.

The recent violence comes in the wake of a U.S. soldier's death in eastern Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

That soldier's death from a roadside bomb brought the growing total of U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq to 3,874. CNN said that 30 of those deaths have occurred this month.
