A 31-year old Bend man was arrested for drunk driving and criminal mischief after he allegedly drove off the road, hit a dirt bank, and landed on guide wires supporting a power pole, sparking a power outage to many homes in the Deschutes River Woods area on Thursday night, deputies reported.
The driver, identified as Jeronimo Olague Huertero, was taken into custody and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, Davis said. Uninjured in the crash, he faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and first-degree criminal mischief.
The Pacific Power and Light power pole and attached lines were not damaged, the sergeant said. “The power outage was possibly from a damaged transformer,” he added. Utility crews were dispatched to the area to restore power.
