BAGHDAD -- Four Iraqi civilians in a minibus in Baghdad were killed by U.S. troops Tuesday when their driver ignored a warning shot to stop, police said.

The Iraqi Health Ministry told Kuwait's KUNA news agency the group worked for a bank and were on their way to work on a road designated for cars only, and not trucks.

Three of the dead were women and two other people were hospitalized with gunshot injuries, the report said.

The incident came a day after U.S. troops opened fire on a car that refused to stop at a checkpoint 140 miles north of Baghdad, the BBC reported. Two adults and a child were killed, the military said.

Elsewhere in Baquba, 40 miles northwest of Baghdad, a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt killed himself and six other people, KUNA reported. Seven other people were injured in the blast, which was the seventh in the city in four months.
