OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police and volunteers began searching Wednesday for a 20-year-old pregnant woman last seen Friday at her home northwest of Oklahoma City.

Bethany, Okla., police Sgt. Sharon Cadle told reporters Lauren Barnes is five months pregnant and needs daily blood-thinning medication. She was reported missing early Friday evening after not showing up to meet friends, Cadle said.

Bethany Police Chief Neal Troutman said Barnes was supposed to meet the baby's father at a park Friday, near where her car was found Sunday, KSBI-TV, Oklahoma City, reported. Her father told NewsOK.com his daughter didn't show up for work on Monday.

Police said the woman didn't have her medications or checkbook, and her debit card hadn't been used since her disappearance.

Tuesday, a prayer group holding a vigil near the park found the body of a woman, but police quickly ruled out it was Barnes, as it was a woman about 50 years old. A separate homicide and missing person investigation was under way Wednesday into that death, reports said.
