WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A disabled Florida woman who wants to install electronic doors has sued the condo association in the complex where she lives.

The Casa del Rio Condominium Association in Boca Raton has denied Josefina Fontanez permission for the doors either in the lobby or in the unit where she lives, The Palm Beach Post reported. The Florida division of vocational rehabilitation has offered to pay for the doors, which Fontanez would be able to open and close by remote control.

Fontanez said that without the electronic doors she is imprisoned in her apartment. She can get out by opening the door with her teeth but to re-enter she must wait for someone, often a complete stranger, to help her.

The Palm Beach County Office of Equal Opportunity has found reason to believe the condo association has discriminated against Fontanez, the newspaper said.
