A Redmond hunter injured when he slipped on an icy trail near Todd Lake called for assistance with his portable radio and was rescued Thursday evening by Deschutes County search and rescue personnel, said authorities.
Daryle Torresan, 50, was hunting in the area of Soda Creek Trail near Todd Lake about 8 p.m. October 26 when he slipped on the icy trail and injured himself. Torresan used a portable multi-frequency radio he was carrying to summon assistance, and was able to guide searchers to his approximate location, said Sgt. Gary Cima with the Sheriff’s office.
Deputies and members of the search and rescue team responded to the area and located the injured man. Torreson was taken to the Green Lakes Trailhead on a wheeled litter by search and rescue personnel, and turned over to Bend Fire emergency medical technicians. He was then transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
