Peterson case: Trucker lied

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - Investigators in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson in Illinois said a trucker claiming Drew Peterson approached him to carry a strange package lied to police.
A trucker told police two men, one believed to be Drew Peterson, approached the two truck drivers at a Bolingbrook truck stop and asked them to "transport a package to an undisclosed location."
Investigators, however, said the trucker's phone records indicate he was not at the Bolingbrook truck depot the morning of Oct. 29, a day after Stacy Peterson disappeared, but in Louisiana, the Joliet (Ill.) Herald-News reported Friday.
"I guess he just wanted his 15 minutes of fame," a police source told the newspaper. "He wasn't even in the state."
Drew Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, is the primary suspect in the disappearance. He has denied any wrongdoing.
