County Health Department Offers Holiday Gift Certificates to Benefit Mentally Disabled, Homeless
Oct 31,2006 00:00 by Bend Weekly News Sources

Deschutes County Mental Health Department’s Rainbow Clubhouse program is now selling gift certificates for holiday presents. Money raised through gift certificate sales will be used to support Rainbow Clubhouse program services, and can also be purchased by cash or check to benefit the local homeless shelter, Bethlehem Inn.

The Rainbow Clubhouse is designed to create a restorative environment for adults who have been socially and vocationally disabled by mental illness. The program can help these adults to achieve or regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead vocationally productive and socially satisfying lives. Clubhouse staff works side by side with members running the Clubhouse program and the Pot of Gold Thrift Store. The daily focus is on Rainbow Clubhouse member strengths, talents and abilities.

The certificates can be redeemed at the Pot of Gold Thrift Store now until the Christmas season is over.  The store sells adult clothing, furniture, home décor, and much more and is located at 1128 NW Hill just east of the Community Development Department building in Bend. The store is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays.

Citizens are asked to please consider picking a tag off of Christmas gift trees (found each season in local malls and stores) this holiday. A Pot of Gold gift certificate can then be purchased for the person on the tag, enabling them to come in and buy clothing.
