Clinton and Obama tied in New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H. -- Polls assessing the presidential elections have Democratic hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in a dead heat among likely New Hampshire primary voters.

A CNN/WMUR poll released Wednesday shows Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., 1 percentage point ahead of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. , down from a 23-point lead in September, the Boston Globe reported Thursday.

A Rasmussen Reports poll and a Suffolk University/WHDH-TV poll verified the diminishing Clinton lead.

Clinton's campaign team said it expected a tightening race as the Jan. 8 New Hampshire primary approached.

"It's New Hampshire; nobody wins by 20 points," said the director of Clinton's New Hampshire effort, Nick Clemons.

Obama's campaign said the new polls indicate an increased disenfranchisement against Clinton as well as a stronger organizational effort and increased interest in his candidacy, the Globe said.

The CNN/WMUR poll indicated Clinton holds onto her general core assets, with 44 percent of likely Democratic voters seeing Clinton as the more electable and better-equipped candidate.
