According to a news release, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a pedestrian involved crash in the 12000 block of Silverton Road shortly after midnight, December 13.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored Chevy S10 pickup, or a Blazer-type vehicle leaving the scene, traveling west on Silverton Road.  Kyle Andrew Rush, 21, of Silverton, had been hit by a vehicle and was in the roadway being assisted by the witnesses.

As the Good Samaritans were tending to Rush, they saw an approaching vehicle and tried but failed to alert the driver.  “They had to move from the street as the vehicle approached them,” the news release stated, and for the second time, Rush was struck.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene, deputies said.

The second driver stopped and remained on scene.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run suspect or vehicle is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 503.588.5032.  The dark S10 pickup or Blazer-type vehicle should have extensive damage, deputies said.
