Polk County Sheriff’s deputies said Julie Mae Williams, 51, of Lyons was deceased when West Valley Fire personnel arrived on scene at the Wandering Spirit RV Park about 12:15 a.m., December 17.

The tree, 11-feet in diameter, had been cut to about 20-feet tall with most of the branches removed.  It had been used by the park as a light post, deputies said, and most likely fallen over due to its own weight and the saturated ground from recent heavy rain.

Hofenbredl Logging Company was called upon to lift the tree off the truck and camper, allowing responders to remove Williams from the wreckage, deputies said.

Williams was a dump truck driver who had borrowed the pickup and camper, and was staying in a rented camping space while she was scheduled to work in the area during the week, the news release stated.
