BOLLINGBROOK, Ill. -- Suburban Chicago investigators moved their search team away from the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in the search for Stacy Peterson, missing since Oct. 28.
A spokesman for her family told Thursday's Joliet (Ill.) Herald-News the state police-coordinated has search moved to other waterways.
Trooper Mark Dorencz told the Chicago Tribune: "We're done with that phase of the canal. We can always be back at the canal."
Drew Peterson, a former police sergeant from Bollingbrook and a person of interest in the case, hired his own private investigators to examine the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy, and said he is pursuing independent leads in the case.
Officials suspected foul play in the death of Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, but a special agent in the case, Herbert Hardy, said there was no evidence to suggest Savio was the victim of a homicide.
