LAS VEGAS -- A wheelchair-bound woman said she spent hours on the tarmac of a Las Vegas airport when US Airways employees allegedly forgot her there.

Jeanne Grettum was in Las Vegas for a connecting flight on her trip from California to Orlando, Fla., WKMG-TV in Orlando, reported Wednesday.

She was taken onto the tarmac to make her flight but was apparently forgotten there until she was seen by an airport worker and taken into a hallway so she could phone her daughter.

"She called me at 3 a.m., crying hysterically because she didn't know what to do and no one would help her," daughter Tammy Nelson told the television station.

Grettum made it to Orlando 12 hours after she was scheduled to arrive on her original flight.

US Airways said the incident was likely the result of a communications breakdown stemming from the plane's delay in getting into the gate in Las Vegas, WKMG-TV said.
