During the week, there were 21 reports of vehicle break-ins, with an estimated value of stolen items at $6,040. Of the 21 reports, eight vehicles were unlocked. DUII arrests totaled seven, and there were 19 warrant arrests made. There were three stolen bikes (two unlocked), with loss estimated at $640. Six vehicles were impounded when the drivers were found to have suspended licenses.
10/6. A Bend woman reported the theft of her purse from her unlocked car that was parked overnight in her open and unlocked garage on Dayspring Drive. The purse was recovered at Tillicum Village, but the wallet and contents were missing. Loss is estimated at $200.
10/6. Bernie’s BBQ on N. Division reported someone disconnected their phone lines, entered the business, pried open the cash register, and took $800 in cash and two shirts.
10/6. Also on N. Division, an unknown person(s) forced open the door to Deschutes Forest Products and took $50 in cash.
10/6. Another building on N. Division had their phone lines disconnected, and an unauthorized entry was reported to W. De Jarnett’s office. Nothing was reported missing.
10/7. The Deschutes County District Attorney’s office reported that an unknown suspect threw a rock through the glass of a door on the building’s east side. Damage is about $400.
10/7. A Bend woman’s car received $1,000 in damage when someone keyed it as it was parked overnight on NE Pilot Butte Drive.
10/6. A house under construction on NE 8th Street was broken into. Someone spraypainted “suck me” in green paint on the walls, and broke out three windows. A BMX bike stored inside the home was also stolen. Damage is estimated at $1,600, and the bike was valued at $400.
10/7. A 2006 Ford F150 pickup valued at $41,000 was stolen near Butler Market Road & Cole Road. The victim left the keys in the ignition.
10/8. A 35-year old man was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and four counts of hit-and-run when his vehicle struck four parked cars and he fled the scene.
10/9. A resident of Mahogany Street reported that an unknown suspect removed the pond-liner from a water feature in her back yard.
10/10. A Bend woman reported someone stole three loads of laundry left unattended at Westside Laundry. The value of the clothing was estimated at $1,000.
10/11. A Bend woman was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and admitted to drinking at the Wall Street Bar. After registering a .17 on her blood alcohol test (more than twice the legal limit), she was asked how much she had to drink. She answered “Enough to blow that amount.” When did she start drinking? “Long enough ago.” Do you feel the effects? “Yeah. Why do you think you pulled me over.” Where are you now? “In jail.”
