During the week, there were 11 reports of vehicle break-ins, with an estimated value of stolen items at $2,165.  Of the 11 reports, eight vehicles were unlocked.  DUII arrests totaled four, and there were 14 warrant arrests made.

10/20.  The owner of El Burrito reported $350 in damage to the business’ entry doors on NE Dekalb when a break-in was attempted using some type of prying tool.

10/20.  A Bend man reported the theft of his locked mountain bike while it was parked in front of The Athletic Club on Athletic Club Drive.  The bicycle is valued at $1,375, and the broken lock at $30.

10/20.  A Bend man reported $200 in damage to his garage on NW 12th Street when the word “bit**” and an image of a pot plant was spray-painted on it.

10/21.  A Bend man reported someone entered his unlocked apartment on Regency and took $700 cash from his nightstand.  The thief left him $40, his wallet, and checkbook.

10/21.  For the second occurrence in a week, the theft of unattended clothing was reported from the Westside Laundromat on NW Columbia Street.  A Bend woman left a dryer-load of girl’s clothes unattended for two hours, and when she returned they were missing.  Loss is estimated at $500.

10/21.  $25 in change and $25 worth of miscellaneous snacks were stolen from a vending machine at The Riverhouse on North Highway 97.

10/22.  Officers arrested a Bend man for attempted burglary when he was causing a disturbance and broke a window while trying to get into the home of his estranged wife.

10/22.  A man wearing a light gray sweatshirt and a “Scream”-style Halloween mask displayed a handgun and robbed the Subway on NE Bellevue of an undisclosed amount of money.

10/24.  A Bend woman reported the theft of a set of keys, stolen from the ignition of her running 1995 Chevy Tahoe.  The SUV was unattended as it was warming up at a friend’s house on Blakely Road.

10/23.  A visitor from Florence, Oregon reported the theft of the passenger-side airbag from her 2003 GMC Denali while it was parked on North Highway 97.  The airbag assembly, valued at $2500, had the wiring disconnected.  Also stolen was a pair of McGeiger sunglasses worth $275.

10/23.  A Bend man left his unlocked Chevy Blazer in front of the SE 3rd Street Jiffy Lube so he could have the vehicle serviced.  An unknown subject took a .22 caliber handgun from the vehicle.

10/25.  A highly intoxicated Bend man was arrested for menacing after he attempted to force entry into the wrong house.  He thought he was at the home of a female acquaintance.  He allegedly broke the trim on the door and used a knife to stab the door.

10/24.  A Sherwood, Oregon man was arrested on several charges following a car accident.  He admitted to drinking alcohol, but claimed not to be operating the vehicle.  His charges include failure to perform the duties of a driver, giving false information to a police officer, failure to appear for a previous court date, driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving.

10/25.  A Bend man and his wife, asleep in their home, were surprised by a drunken man attempting to enter an upstairs door to their residence which opened into their master bedroom.  The intoxicated man had earlier jumped from a vehicle driven by his girlfriend during an argument.  He ran from the house and tried to sneak into the police car of a responding officer.
